A Day in the Life – Training Specialist – Tanishka Rodriguez

I have so many amazing memories and experiences during my time here at JEM. I love what I do and the company I work for. Being a Training Specialist is having the best of both worlds.

My name is Tanishka Rodriguez. I am a Training Specialist at Mickey Retreat at Walt Disney World in Orlando FL.  I have been a part of Jeff Ellis Management for almost six years. I have so many amazing memories and experiences during my time here at JEM. I love what I do and the company I work for.

Being a Training Specialist is having the best of both worlds. You get to train, travel, and be a part of operations. Training is my passion and where my heart is; sharing the importance of scanning, making sure we save lives, and the mission we stand for is the message I try to share daily. My workday can range anywhere from 10 to 12 hours a day from teaching class, audits, traveling, and even swim lessons. There is never a dull moment here at the “Most Magical Place on Earth!”

What makes coming to work so easy is the amazing people I get to work with daily. If it wasn’t for them and all the laughs, hard days would be harder. Classes can be a little crazy. Boy, the stories I could share!

Now enough about work…I am sure you want an inside look into my personal life. Well, there isn’t much time for much fun when you have two kids, two cats, two snakes, pne dog, and a gecko. Oh, I almost forgot about the husband too. *laughs* My days start early at 5:30 am. Lyam is 11 and Lilliana is 9 and getting them ready for school is not an easy task. My travel time from home, school, and work is about one and a half hours in the morning and in the evening. Most of that is sitting in traffic. Boy, do we have traffic in Orlando!

Once my workday is done, I have to rush to pick up the kids from school and off to whatever activities they are off to. I can go from soccer practice to vocal lessons, to their games, or even just home trying to do math homework (which I am really bad at). On my days off, I do my best to take the kids to activities to let steam out. We love going to SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, or water parks; Orlando has a lot to offer. The way I see it, the less I am at home, the less I have to clean ‘cause these kids like to make a mess!

I hope this gives you some insight in the work/life balance of a Training Specialist and have gotten to know me a little better. I am an open book, life can be hectic and crazy but it is fun, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I hope you have a blessed day! Be safe and be kind to all.
