Iโ€™ve been at this job for almost three years now. This was my first aquatic job, and I worked my way up from a lifeguard to a maintenance manager.

JEM Leader Spotlight – Marcos Martinez

Aquatics has been a part of my life for quite a while, to be honest. My dad, who has spent 40 years in the industry, had my brother and me at water parks every summer.
I always thought the lifeguards were super cool and fun to interact with as a kid.

Growing up, like many in the Midwest, I spent every summer trying to get to any of the Great Lakesโ€™ many beautiful beaches, the numerous lakes and rivers in Michigan, and of course, any pool or waterpark I could visitโ€”which was always extra special. Being around water was a fundamental part of my childhood experience.

I first started in aquatics (and JEM) in 2017 at Sandy Beach Waterpark in Georgia. It’s funny because I quit my previous job and was contacted by JEM that very same evening about training still being available for cashiers and lifeguards.
