Job description:
This is a guest facing role which ensures smooth and efficient delivery of the experience for all Guests who visit JEM Facilities. This position reports to the Area Manager and ensures guest safety by managing Supervisors, Assistant Managers, Leads & Lifeguards, responding to emergencies, ensuring efficient operation of rides and attractions, giving clear directions and instructions, communicating to management operational needs, attending and delivering on-going training and maintaining essential swimming, lifeguarding, and basic life support skills.
Job Scope:
- Management of resort lifeguard operations with guest and colleague safety as the primary focus on a day to day basis
- Manage a team of Supervisors and their respective front-line colleagues to include on and off the job training, daily attendance, grooming, coaching, appraisals and personal development plans
- Foster a harmonious atmosphere among Colleagues and clients in their area and brings team members together through team activities
- Manage and participate in daily operations alongside their Colleagues setting a positive example and leading by example
- Ensure that all manufacturer guidelines and SOPs regarding ride dispatch and Guest safety are followed
- Compile duty schedules for their Leadership team on a monthly basis ensuring that annual leave plans support operational readiness and ensure sufficient time off to employees
- Assist the area manager with recruitment, interviews, and internship development
- Manage and participate in on and off job training as required to ensure best possible service standards as well as Colleague development
- Ensure departmental policies, procedures and performance standards are being implemented and maintained throughout their area
- Motivate Colleagues through the effective implementation of incentive and recognition and rewards programs
- Provide a warm and inviting atmosphere for Colleagues and when assisting guests
- Highlight any service delivery defects and share observations and suggestions with the area manager
- Management of inventory and labor budget
- Obtain and maintain an International Lifeguard Training Program Instructor License
- Serve as a first responder in the emergency action plan and manage the situation as needed
- Manage the completion of safety audits daily and record results as directed
- Work at heights, in water, and in extreme temperatures, outside, year-round
- Work nights, evenings, and/or holidays
- Other duties as directed by management
Essential Skills:
- High School graduate
- International Lifeguard Training Program or similar lifeguard program experience
- 6+ years of management experience
- 6+ years in a guest facing role with a quality track record
- Previous pool, hotel, waterpark theme park experience
- Swim 200 meters, non-stop, using front crawl or breast stroke
- Retrieve a 10-pound brick from the deepest water
- Tread water for 2 minutes without using arms
- Maintain test-ready lifeguard skills in accordance with International Lifeguard Training Program.
- Intermediate or better English proficiency (written and verbal)
- Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

II. DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assistant Managers must consistently perform the following duties:
- Manage employees to ensure they are meeting the standards and goals of their position
- Lead daily operations and report all activity to the Director and VP of Operations
- Manage the hiring, training, and managing of all employed by JEM
- Provide a warm and inviting atmosphere when assisting guests
- Lead by Example- Go above and beyond for the guests and team member you serve
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
III. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
To perform the job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Must be able to complete all requirements of the lifeguard position
- 2+ years of managing multiple employees
- Ability to develop and maintain exceptional relationships with Clients and Staff
- Customer Service and Aquatic experience is a must
- Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Positive Attitude and Team Mentality
IV. REQUIRED TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
- Lifeguard must possess ILTP license or pass an ILTP training program, CPO/AFO
